FIFA Expands Gaming Portfolio
FIFA has partnered with Mythical Games to develop FIFA Rivals, a new mobile gaming experience that will join FIFA’s non-simulation gaming category. The game, set for release on iOS and Android platforms in summer 2025, aims to provide an accessible arcade-style football experience to fans worldwide.
Game Features and Player Experience
FIFA Rivals will allow players to create and manage their own football clubs, featuring both current and legendary players. Users can build and enhance their team lineups to compete in real-time PvP matches. The game incorporates Mythical Games’ blockchain technology, enabling players to participate in both in-game and web marketplaces for trading football stars.
Strategic Vision and Development
“We’re thrilled to partner with Mythical Games to launch FIFA Rivals, bringing football fans a mobile-first gaming experience that deepens their connection to the sport,” said FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström. The collaboration represents FIFA’s broader strategy to enhance fan engagement through digital platforms.
Mythical Games brings significant expertise to the project, having already achieved success with their previous Rivals game, which garnered over five million downloads. John Linden, CEO and Founder of Mythical Games, emphasized their plans for long-term partnership: “Through this long-term partnership with FIFA, there are major plans to integrate into the FIFA esports platform to give players in every country the ability to become a participant or fan.”
The project is supported by Mythical’s established infrastructure, including their $37 million Series C1 funding and the Mythos Foundation. The foundation provides essential blockchain development support, with their platform currently processing about 3 million monthly transactions through other successful games like Blankos Block Party.
